These are the last words of Nehanda Charwe Nyakasikana, spoken before British colonial forces hanged her in 1898. She refused Christian baptism. She refused to kneel. She prophesied.
Zimbabwe won independence in 1980.
Britain took her head as a trophy of conquest in 1898. Over 30 years of repatriation demands later, the British Natural History Museum searched through 20,000 human remains and announced they could not confirm her skull was even in their collection.
They lost Nehanda's head. Her prophecy is still intact.
In 2021, Zimbabwe offered to exchange Cecil Rhodes — buried on Zimbabwean soil — for the skulls of the resistance leaders. Britain has not accepted.
Repatriate the Skulls and Bones.
